New York Congressional Candidate Alex Bores Attacked by PAC, Accused of Receiving Over $100,000 in Support from SBF's Political Network

Gate News reports that on March 20, Democratic primary candidate for New York’s 12th Congressional District and New York State Assemblyman Alex Bores was sent aggressive campaign materials by the pro-tech super PAC Think Big PAC. The materials linked him to over $100,000 in independent support from Sam Bankman-Fried’s 2022 political network. CoinDesk has confirmed the amount through state election filings. A spokesperson for Think Big PAC stated that Bores “received over $100,000 from Sam Bankman-Fried’s political network” but refused to acknowledge any connection and criticized his campaign funding as inconsistent with voter interests. The primary contenders include Jack Schlossberg, George Conway, and others, competing to replace Congressman Jerry Nadler. Think Big PAC said it supports candidates aligned with pro-tech policies and opposes those perceived as unfriendly to AI innovation; recently, Bores proposed legislation at the state level focused on AI safety and accountability. Previously, Think Big PAC spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on ads targeting Bores. His campaign team issued a cease-and-desist letter, accusing the ads of containing “false and defamatory statements.”
