Ledger CTO: Drift attack methods are similar to a certain CEX incident in 2025, or involve North Korean hackers

Gate News announcement: On April 2, Ledger CTO Charles Guillemet posted that the attack method used in Drift Protocol’s recent exploit is similar to a 2025 CEX hacking incident that is widely believed to involve North Korean-related hackers. He said the attack did not directly target smart contracts; instead, it gained access to multi-signature signers’ devices over the long term, tricking them into approving malicious transactions. The signers may have carried out authorization actions without knowing it. Guillemet believes the incident shows that the main security issues stem from people and operational processes rather than code-level flaws.

Litecoin Sees First Privacy Layer Hack: MWEB Zero-Day Vulnerability Triggered 13-Block Reorganization

According to The Block, the Litecoin Foundation confirmed that the MWEB privacy layer suffered a zero-day vulnerability. The attacker used older nodes to make forged MWEB transactions appear valid, causing a rollback of 13 blocks on the main chain (about 3 hours), and performing double-spends against cross-chain exchanges; NEAR Intents exposed about $600k, and the mining pool was also hit with a DoS. A patched version has been released—please upgrade immediately. Main-chain balances are not affected, but it highlights the trade-off between reducing observability and increasing detection difficulty for the privacy layer.
