Gate News message, April 17 — Hesai Technology announced its strategic upgrade from spatial perception to spatial intelligence, unveiling KOSMO, a new AI-powered hardware product for 3D spatial capture and recording. According to Hesai’s CTO Xiang Shaoqing, the device is designed to capture and record the 3D world comprehensively, with potential to evolve into a pocket camera accessible to a broader user base as iterations continue.
The product is engineered to support physical AI training by providing robot manufacturers with high-quality spatial data—currently a scarce resource—for world model training and development. This capability positions KOSMO as a key tool for advancing robotics and AI applications.
On the same day, Hesai also announced its entry into the robotic power module sector, marking an expansion into new business verticals.
