ByteDance sells Moonton Technology for over $6 billion, further focusing on its AI strategy

Gate News reports that on March 20, ByteDance announced that it has reached a final agreement to sell Mu Tong Technology to Savvy Games Group, a subsidiary of the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), in a deal valued at over $6 billion. Mu Tong Technology is a well-known developer and publisher of the Southeast Asian MOBA mobile game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), which was acquired by ByteDance in 2021. ByteDance has made significant investments in AI, and its overall profit declined in the fourth quarter of 2025. The sale of Mu Tong Technology is seen as a strategic move by ByteDance to further focus on AI.
