Gate News message, April 28 — A 30-year-old woman from Saipan, Sze Man Yu Inos (also known as “Yuki”), was sentenced to 71 months in federal prison for a bitcoin-related wire fraud scheme, according to a statement from the U.S. Department of Justice released on Monday. The court also ordered restitution of $769,355, criminal forfeiture of $684,848, and a $200 special assessment fee.

Between November 2020 and January 2022, Inos targeted older women in Saipan and Guam by falsely claiming she came from a wealthy Chinese family and had achieved success investing in bitcoin. She cultivated emotional bonds with victims, frequently telling them “You are like my mom,” before exploiting their trust to solicit bitcoin investments under false pretenses. She later expanded the scheme to defraud additional victims in Washington and California.

Crypto-related fraud losses reached a record $11.3 billion in 2025, accounting for more than half of the $20.9 billion in total internet crime losses tracked by the FBI, according to a report released earlier this month.
