The last time the Federal Reserve cut interest rates was on September 18, 2024, when the Federal Reserve lowered the federal funds Intrerest Rate target range by 50 basis points to between 4.75% and 5%12. This is the first interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve since March 20201.
Prior to this, the Federal Reserve also cut interest rates on November 7, 2024, lowering the federal funds interest rate target range by 25 basis points to between 4.50% and 4.75%34.
