In recent weeks, Musk has hinted that his social media app X (formerly known as Twitter) may withdraw from Europe to avoid being subject to new regulations issued by the European Commission, according to people familiar with the matter. According to a person familiar with the matter, Musk is increasingly frustrated with having to comply with the EU's Digital Services Act. He has discussed simply canceling the app's availability in the region or blocking users in the EU from accessing it. This would be similar to how Meta currently prevents Europeans from using its new app, Threads.
