According to Le Monde, Vanessa Perrée, head of the French National Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime, stated that kidnapping cases related to encrypted assets are expanding in scale. Among 12 cases, 88 people have been prosecuted, including over 10 minors, and 75 have been detained pending trial. Law enforcement agencies have recorded 135 related cases since 2023, with 18 in 2024, 67 in 2025, and 47 so far in 2026, showing a rapid growth trend. These cases typically involve kidnapping or illegal detention, some accompanied by violence, and require victims to pay ransom or transfer cryptocurrency assets.
