Just saw that GLPI brought in Carlo Santarelli as their new SVP for strategy and investor relations back in August. Pretty interesting move honestly. The guy spent like 25 years on Wall Street doing equity research and investment banking, mostly focused on gaming and lodging. He was a managing director at Deutsche Bank before this, and before that had stints at Bear Stearns, JP Morgan, and Wells Fargo. So definitely knows the space inside and out.

What caught my eye is that this was a brand new position they created for him. Not filling an existing role, but actually adding a dedicated seat for corporate strategy and investor relations. Their CEO Peter Carlino said they've been following Carlo's research work for years and respect his take on the gaming REIT structure. Apparently he's got solid connections with institutional investors and knows a ton of people across the sector.

The gaming REIT space is interesting because it's pretty specific - GLPI basically acquires and owns real estate that they lease out to casino operators under triple-net agreements. So bringing in someone like Carlo Santarelli who understands both the capital markets side and the gaming industry dynamics could help them navigate growth and investor strategy better. Curious to see what kind of deals or strategic moves come out of this hire.
