Just been digging into apartment hunting and honestly, finding anything under 100k is wild right now. Most cities you're looking at condos if you want that price point, not actual apartments. Been checking out what condo costs in different markets and the range is crazy - Cleveland's way cheaper than San Francisco obviously.
So I looked into this PropertyUnder50k study and found some cities where you can actually still grab something affordable. Austin's got pockets of cheaper stuff on the outskirts even though it's been booming. Cincinnati and Indianapolis are solid if you don't mind the Midwest - both have decent inventory for under 100k. Orlando's flooded with condos so options are there, Portland works if you go outside downtown, and Salt Lake City's pretty stable overall.
The thing about condo costs is they vary SO much depending on where exactly you look. Like you might find something 20 minutes outside the city center for way less than downtown. Also learned that buying a condo is different from a co-op - with condos you actually own the unit, co-ops you're buying shares in the building which has way more restrictions.
Anyone else been looking? What's the most affordable market you've found where you can actually get a decent place for under 100k?
