Google Warning: New iPhone Exploit Kit Used for Cryptocurrency Theft

BlockBeats reports that on March 5, Cointelegraph announced that Google's Threat Analysis Team recently disclosed a new iOS exploit kit called "Coruna." This kit is being used to target iPhone users for cryptocurrency theft activities. The attack targets devices running iOS 13.0 to 17.2.1 and includes 23 exploit programs and 5 complete attack chains, some of which involve previously unknown vulnerabilities. It can carry out attacks through fake cryptocurrency-related websites, such as phishing sites impersonating WEEX Exchange. When users visit these malicious sites on vulnerable iOS devices, the attack code automatically runs, scanning the device for sensitive information, especially texts containing keywords like seed phrases, backup phrases, bank account details, and attempts to steal assets from crypto apps like Uniswap and MetaMask. Google researchers strongly recommend iPhone users immediately update their devices to the latest iOS version. If updating is not possible, users should enable Apple's "Lockdown Mode" to enhance protection.
