Neither of them is "gold itself," but rather on-chain gold certificates. Fees, barriers, liquidity, and sentiment all cause it to fluctuate around the gold price, creating premiums/discounts, so the prices cannot be synchronized, but in the long run, they generally stay close to the gold price.
