IT House, February 25 — Meta announced on the 20th local time that as part of its strategic adjustments for 2026, it will split Quest VR and Horizon Worlds, its metaverse social space, with the latter’s focus almost entirely shifted to mobile platforms.
Meta pledged to support the long-term development of its VR business, and its emphasis on the VR platform remains unchanged. Meta has a comprehensive VR headset hardware plan to meet the needs of different user groups.
In terms of software ecosystem, Meta’s VR platform’s total payment volume last year remained roughly flat, with in-app purchase revenue increasing by 13%. Meta will focus on supporting the third-party developer community, providing more monetization options and interaction opportunities for VR developers, and improving the VR app development experience.
