CITIC Securities Finance APP learns that shipping stocks are rising across the board. As of the time of writing, COSCO SHIPPING Holdings (02866) is up 6.09%, trading at HKD 1.22; COSCO SHIPPING Control (01919) is up 2.82%, trading at HKD 14.96; Orient Overseas International (00316) is up 2.52%, trading at HKD 146.6; and Hapag-Lloyd (01308) is up 0.73%, trading at HKD 33.22.

According to reports, on February 3, the shipping group Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk will adjust their shared liner service route, rerouting through the Red Sea and Suez Canal. However, the Maersk Detroit, which was supposed to resume Red Sea voyages for the first time, instead diverted south around the Cape of Good Hope during actual operation. The company explained that the reroute was due to adverse weather in the Mediterranean causing delays, leading to a decision to adjust the sailing plan and detour via the Cape of Good Hope.

Shenwan Hongyuan released a research report stating that this detour indicates the resumption of Red Sea voyages still cannot be realized in the short term. Additionally, the market has entered early March shipping schedules. With factories resuming work after the Spring Festival holiday, demand is expected to improve. Attention should be paid to shipping companies’ post-holiday price increases and support actions.
