Bloomberg Analyst: Institutions broadly reduce Bitcoin ETF holdings in Q4, with advisors and hedge funds as the largest sellers

On February 25, Bloomberg analyst James Seyffart posted on X platform that institutional investors submitting 13F reports to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Q4 2025 collectively reduced their Bitcoin ETF positions. Investment advisory firms and hedge funds are the two largest types of institutions holding these positions, making them the main sellers in the market. Overall, the reporting institutional investors sold ETF shares equivalent to approximately 25,000 Bitcoin exposure in Q4 2025.
