Wu said that the Eastern District of North Carolina Prosecutor's Office (EDNC) announced that federal law enforcement agencies seized over $61 million worth of USDT (Tether). The investigation showed that the funds were related to "pig-butchering" crypto investment scams, where scammers build fake romantic relationships to gain victims' trust, guide them to invest on imitation trading platforms, and prevent withdrawals with reasons like "taxes" and "fees," continuously deceiving funds. The U.S. Department of Justice also thanked Tether for its assistance in asset transfer and cooperation with the investigation.
