Deep Tide TechFlow News, on February 25th, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik posted on social media this morning, elaborating on the Ethereum Foundation’s (EF) vision and support for DeFi. Vitalik emphasized that DeFi is a core part of Ethereum’s value proposition, and financial empowerment is an essential component of autonomy and freedom in today’s world.
The EF’s vision is to create a permissionless, open-source, private, and security-first global financial system that maximizes individuals’ control over their assets, minimizes centralized bottlenecks and trusted third parties, while democratizing risk management and wealth building. Vitalik proposed that DeFi protocols should pass an “exit test,” meaning they can continue to operate even if the original team suddenly disappears.
The Ethereum Foundation’s focus areas include improving DeFi security through traditional and innovative methods, oracle security and decentralization, privacy protection, and enhancing open-source and forkability within DeFi. Vitalik stated that although Ethereum is a permissionless protocol, the EF is willing to collaborate with like-minded partners to build a robust DeFi ecosystem.
