Yunnan Ruili debunks the rumor of "another outbreak leading to city lockdown," and will take action against the rumor spreader.

On February 5th, the Health and Wellness Bureau of Ruili City, Dehong Prefecture, Yunnan Province, announced that since 2026, multiple false videos claiming “Ruili is experiencing a new outbreak and implementing city lockdown measures” have been circulating on internet platforms, attracting widespread attention and discussion among netizens. “These messages seriously mislead the public, disrupt normal social order, and have a negative impact on the production, daily life of residents, and the social and economic development of the city.” The Ruili City Health and Wellness Bureau stated that after verification, the videos are old news reposted and are severely inconsistent with the current situation in Ruili. Ruili City has always strictly implemented the national, provincial, and state COVID-19 prevention and control measures, and has established and improved a regular pandemic monitoring and early warning system. Currently, Ruili has not experienced any major infectious disease outbreaks, nor has it taken any “lockdown” measures. The city’s production and daily life are operating normally, and border crossings are functioning smoothly and orderly. The public security authorities will handle the dissemination of rumors according to the law based on specific circumstances. (The Paper)
