"AI Thanos" Anthropic partners with "Victim Stock" to launch intelligent agents, leading to a collective rebound in the software sector

On Tuesday evening Beijing time, the star AI company Anthropic, which has been dominating the U.S. stock market for nearly a month, held a briefing and announced 10 new ways for enterprise clients to integrate AI into their workflows, covering areas such as stock research and investment banking.

It’s worth noting that Anthropic’s event did not trigger a new round of selling. The main reason is that “Anthropic victim stocks,” including Thomson Reuters, appeared collectively at the briefing, demonstrating a strong commitment to embracing AI technology.

As of press time, Thomson Reuters rose over 11%, FactSet increased 12%, and SaaS giant S&P Global gained 4%.

As background, Anthropic launched Claude Cowork in January this year, aiming to expand its programming tools to more white-collar jobs. Since then, the feature has been updated multiple times, including adding plugins to enhance capabilities in finance and legal fields, upgrading the AI models that drive the agents, and last week launching tools for cybersecurity work.

After Anthropic released legal professional plugins last month, the global software stock market wiped out $1 trillion in market value within just seven trading days, turning the company into a “AI Thanos” that terrifies investors.

Scott White, head of enterprise products, revealed at the briefing that half of the latest batch of ten plugins added to Claude Cowork are related to capital markets, including financial analysis, investment banking, stock research, private equity, and wealth management. In addition, fields such as design, human resources, operations, engineering, and corporate branding are also new areas for the AI giant’s expansion into the workplace.

White explained that these plugins can improve Claude’s performance in specific tasks, such as modeling in private equity, organizing creative summaries for design-related work, and summarizing vendor proposals for operational tasks.

Anthropic disclosed that these professional service plugins are supported by specialized software service providers. For example, the finance-related plugins are developed in collaboration with FactSet, S&P Global, and London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG). Meanwhile, private equity plugins involved Apollo Asset Management, a major private equity firm. Other participants in developing the new plugins include SaaS giant Slack (owned by Salesforce), and digital signature service provider DocuSign.

In the legal services sector, Thomson Reuters partnered with Anthropic and others to build the AI legal service platform CoCounsel and a Claude SDK-based intelligent agent. Thomson Reuters also announced on Tuesday that the number of global professional users of CoCounsel has surpassed 1 million.

Regarding the recent sell-off of software stocks triggered by the company, White firmly denied that AI agents would replace traditional software service companies.

He stated, “This is not a product trying to take over or cover all workflows. We provide infrastructure and intelligent capabilities so that our partners or clients can incorporate their own business knowledge, expertise, long-standing trust, and their customers into this system.”

Anthropic also announced the expansion of Claude’s MCP list, enabling Claude AI to access more external data sources, including Google’s email and cloud storage, as well as professional data providers like MSCI.
