The State Council Information Office held a press conference this morning to introduce the “Modern Capital Urban Circle Spatial Coordination Plan (2023–2035)” and answer questions from reporters. A relevant official from Tianjin introduced that in recent years, the cross-city travel volume between Beijing and Tianjin has steadily increased. By 2025, the average daily trips between the two cities will reach 225,000. Traveling within the Beijing-Tianjin area has become a daily routine for many people, and the switching between work, study, living, and shopping scenes between the two cities is becoming smoother. In this plan, the entire Beijing-Tianjin area is included in the functional zone, with Wuqing District in Tianjin incorporated into the commuting zone, making personnel exchanges and economic integration between the two areas even closer. Currently, four high-speed rail lines—Beijing-Tianjin, Jinxing, Jingbin, and Jinghu—along with six expressways including Jing-Tang, connect directly to Beijing. The “One Card” transportation system covers all subways and buses. Moving forward, efforts will be made to accelerate the improvement of the three-dimensional transportation network connecting Beijing and Tianjin, further enhance intercity railway capacity, upgrade and expand Tianjin South Station and Wuqing Station, continue investing in buses and dedicated shuttle services, and improve transportation convenience between the main cities of Beijing and Tianjin. Additionally, transportation links will be strengthened in cross-regional areas such as Tongwu Lang and Pingji Sanxing, aiming to write a high-quality, efficient “Twin Cities” story for Beijing and Tianjin.
