The updated course will explain complex economic processes to students. The program covers topics such as savings, cryptocurrency mining, monetary sovereignty, and the functioning of global financial markets.
The curriculum was developed in collaboration with experts from WESPARK. The authors added many visualizations, animations, and interactive tasks. One assignment asks teenagers to design their own money. This practical exercise will help children easily understand the laws of deficit and the principles of issuance.
Bitcoin Diploma 2.0 will begin teaching in public schools in El Salvador this academic year. ONBTC Director Stacey Herbert called the initiative a crucial step toward improving financial literacy in the country.
In the future, the agency will launch additional accelerators. These stages of the program will help young Salvadorans start startups and establish their own Bitcoin businesses.
Recall that in September 2021, El Salvador became the first country in the world to recognize Bitcoin as legal tender. Services and merchants are now required to accept the cryptocurrency.
As of February 16, 2026, El Salvador’s Bitcoin reserve reached 7,564 BTC.
