The Iranian Foreign Ministry says any attack on Iran will be considered an act of aggression and will bear the consequences.

According to the Islamic Republic of Iran News Agency on the 23rd, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani said at a weekly press conference in Tehran that any attack on Iran will be considered an act of aggression and will bear corresponding consequences. Kanaani stated that Iran’s armed forces remain vigilant, and while engaging in diplomatic negotiations, Iran is closely monitoring developments. He emphasized that negotiations imposed with preconditions or biases will not succeed. If Iran determines that the other side is using negotiations as a deception tactic, it will respond accordingly. Kanaani said that negotiations require mutual effort and sincerity. Iran is willing to hold continuous negotiations that could last days or weeks, but prolonging the process “is not beneficial.” Currently, Iran is formulating plans and hopes to hold a new round of talks with the United States in the coming days. He added that the goal of the negotiations is to achieve results, as the Iranian people are under sanctions pressure, and “action must be taken to lift sanctions as soon as possible.” On the 22nd, Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi confirmed that a new round of talks between the U.S. and Iran is scheduled to take place in Geneva, Switzerland, on the 26th. The second round of indirect talks between the U.S. and Iran was held in Geneva on the 17th. After the negotiations, U.S. and Iranian officials both stated that despite remaining differences, progress was made compared to the previous round, and both sides agreed to continue engagement. Meanwhile, the U.S. has recently massed troops in the Middle East. President Trump recently admitted that he is considering a “limited military strike” against Iran. (Xinhua)
