On February 23rd local time, former Deputy Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Altan Grubi, was arrested at the Brezje border crossing in the country. North Macedonia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that Grubi is suspected of abuse of power and embezzlement of approximately 8 million euros. After the investigation was launched in December 2024, Grubi left North Macedonia and was placed on the wanted list. Grubi served as North Macedonia’s Deputy Prime Minister from 2020 to 2024.
