On February 24, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning hosted a routine press conference.

On February 24, the Ministry of Commerce announced that Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and 19 other Japanese entities have been included in the export control list, and Subaru Corporation, Tokyo University of Science, and 18 other Japanese entities have been added to the watch list. An NHK reporter asked about this.

“Specific questions are recommended to be directed to the relevant Chinese authorities,” Mao Ning said. “What I want to say is that, in order to safeguard national security and interests, and to fulfill international obligations such as non-proliferation, China has taken measures in accordance with laws and regulations. The purpose is to prevent Japan’s ‘re-militarization’ and nuclear ambitions, which are entirely legitimate, reasonable, and lawful.”
