(MENAFN) US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke by phone on Monday with Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen on his first day in office, emphasizing the enduring ties between the United States and Netherlands, according to the State Department.
Rubio congratulated Berendsen on his appointment and highlighted the “close and continuing cooperation” between the two nations, principal deputy spokesman Tommy Pigott said in a statement.
The conversation covered NATO, efforts to negotiate an end to the Russia-Ukraine war, and the three-phase plan for Venezuela under the Trump administration, Pigott added.
“As the United States proudly celebrates 250 years of independence, we also mark 250 years of enduring friendship with the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
