Deep Tide TechFlow News, February 24 — According to Sing Tao Headlines, Hong Kong police have arrested an employee of a cryptocurrency trading platform. The employee is suspected of stealing a total of 2.67 million USDT from approximately 20 clients, worth about HKD 20.87 million.
The arrestee is a 34-year-old network engineer named Cai who has worked at the company for four years, mainly responsible for managing mobile applications. The company began receiving reports of missing funds from clients in early January. An investigation revealed that the employee had logged into the company’s database and viewed relevant client accounts. The incident occurred at an investment firm providing cryptocurrency settlement services located at South Tower, Kornhill Plaza, 9 Science Museum Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. The case has now been handed over to the Ninth Team of the Criminal Investigation Division of Yau Tsim District.
