Powell's Upset: Federal Reserve Chair Becomes America's Most Popular Official
A poll at the end of 2025 made Federal Reserve Chairman Powell an unexpected top figure in American politics.
Gallup's latest survey shows that among more than ten high-ranking U.S. officials, Powell tops the list with over 40% support—46% of Democrats, 34% of Republicans, and even 49% of independent voters with neutral stances expressed satisfaction with him.
This result is somewhat counterintuitive: after all, in the first year of Trump's return to the White House, he and Powell were almost constantly at odds—Trump publicly criticized Powell multiple times for not cutting interest rates more aggressively early on, sparking heated debates in public opinion.
But despite the arguments, Powell's approval rating didn't decline—in fact, he maintained a solid base across different camps.
Why does this Federal Reserve chief manage to win fans? Perhaps because his steady approach to monetary policy precisely meets voters' need for economic security—regardless of party lines, a calm and competent economic leader always garners more goodwill.
After all, in the political popularity pool, compared to slogan-shouting politicians, technically skilled officials who can keep the economy steady are more likely to earn public favor amid disagreements.
Powell's current popularity wave is less about personal charisma and more about voters voting with their feet for certainty. #Gate社区圣诞氛围感
