Construction Bank responds to lock card due to transfer remark "Dogecoin": If the account involves virtual currency transactions, the bank will implement "no receipt no payment" control
According to China News Weekly, recently a user was locked out of their card after remarking "Dogecoin" during a transfer at Construction Bank. The individual, Ms. Yu, said that a few months ago she transferred 250 yuan to her husband through China Construction Bank with the note "This week's Dogecoin". Recently, both of them received calls from bank staff stating that the remark triggered "virtual currency control" and their account was set to a "no receipt no payment" status.
Bank staff required the submission of bank transaction records and a commitment letter to unfreeze the account, promising that it was not related to virtual currency transactions. An employee at a Dalian branch of China Construction Bank said that if the transfer note includes "Dogecoin," proof materials must be provided to demonstrate that the remark is unrelated to virtual currencies. However, the issue is how to prove it; with only bank transaction records, it cannot be considered valid proof. Therefore, such controlled accounts cannot be unblocked and can only be closed.
Ms. Yu has already submitted relevant materials to request lifting the restriction. Previously, on December 5, the China Internet Finance Association and six other associations jointly issued a risk warning, requiring not to participate in virtual currency issuance and trading activities.
