Rakuten starts official resale of sports event tickets with NFT tickets.
Rakuten Group announced on August 14 that it has introduced NFT tickets for the official ticket resale of the professional baseball team “Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles” and the soccer J1 league “Vissel Kobe” on its operated NFT marketplace “Rakuten NFT”. By utilizing blockchain technology, it ensures counterfeit prevention and transaction transparency, allowing sellers to freely set resale prices.
The NFT tickets being introduced this time are a digital ticket system based on blockchain technology. The transaction history and owner information are recorded in the data itself and stored in a tamper-proof manner.
The Rakuten Eagles will have first-team games held at Rakuten Mobile Park Miyagi after September 2025 as eligible. The resale applies to tickets purchased in electronic ticket (QR code) format. On the other hand, Vissel Kobe will have individual purchased season tickets for 2025 as eligible, and they will be available from J1 League Matchday 32 (against Shimizu S-Pulse) onwards. The resale is scheduled to start on August 27.

Collaboration with the Rakuten Ecosystem
With Rakuten NFT, it is possible to earn and use Rakuten points when purchasing tickets, making it a highly convenient service design for users within the Rakuten ecosystem. The platform also offers a peer-to-peer trading function for NFTs, allowing transactions from the purchase of digital tickets utilizing blockchain technology to resale to be completed on a consistent platform.
