Choosing old coins that have gone through at least one round of Whipsaw is correct in 99% of cases (I put this as the first point because it goes against most people's common sense. If you want to speculate on new narratives this round, go to the Primary Market, don't look for them in the secondary exchange. The probability of finding alpha among new coins in the secondary market is even lower than casually picking a random coin from the Primary Market and making a big bet.
