Elon Musk Asks Grok: Can Bitcoin Be Hacked?
Elon Musk recently asked Grok (X’s AI chatbot) whether Bitcoin’s security could be broken by quantum computers. This came after IBM shared plans for a powerful quantum system, “Blue Jay,” by 2033.
Grok replied that Bitcoin is safe for now. It said the chances of quantum computers cracking Bitcoin's SHA-256 encryption by 2030 are less than 1%, and under 10% by 2035. Current quantum systems are far too weak—only about 1,000 noisy qubits, while millions would be needed.
Grok added that stronger algorithms like SHA-3 or SHA-512 might replace SHA-256 in the future.
Fun fact: Tesla owns 11,509 $BTC (~$1.31B), and SpaceX has about $850M worth. Musk personally holds Bitcoin too.
