On the way back from climbing the mountain, I was thinking about a question: what is revenge trading?
The essence of revenge trading is not to make money, but to restore one's self-worth. Because you have been hurt by the market, you want to regain your dignity through a single success.
In this state of trading, the risk is at its highest. Because you are no longer executing based on the system, but rather trading based on emotions. You ignore the rules and only want to quickly make up for losses. You skip confirmation conditions just because you feel "itchy" to trade. The final outcome is that the losses keep increasing, and you become less and less confident in yourself. Many traders end up blowing up their accounts in revenge trading.
What should we do? Pause.
If you notice that you are starting to trade frequently, increase your position size, and operate without a plan, you must force yourself to take a break. No matter how good the opportunities the market presents, you need to stop. Bring your position to zero, turn off the market, review your trades, reflect, and write a trading journal. You must be clear: it is not that the trading system has a problem at this moment, but rather that your mindset has deviated from the track.
The market is always there; the way to regain your breath is not through gambling, but through the next rational execution.
Let's encourage each other.
