#以太坊 Pectra 升级 Ethereum upgrade is imminent, can the Pectra upgrade become Ethereum's "savior"?
Core transformation of Pectra upgrade
Pectra will significantly increase the validator staking limit from 32 Ether to 2048 Ether, simplifying the large stake process. This adjustment is expected to enhance on-chain liquidity and attract more institutional funds to enter.
If user experience (UX) improves substantially, on-chain activity may significantly increase - this will also be a key observation point for Ethereum price trends in the second quarter.
What is the Pectra upgrade?
As one of the largest updates in Ethereum's history, Pectra focuses on four major directions:
Improve staking efficiency
Optimize user experience
Promote the Rollup expansion roadmap
Strengthen decentralization features
Three major upgrade highlights
1. The staking efficiency revolution The current limit of a single validator at 32 ETH forces large stakers to run multiple nodes. After the implementation of EIP-7251, the cap of 2048 ETH will significantly reduce the network load—currently, the number of active validators on Ethereum has exceeded 1.07 million (as of December 2024 data).
2. The leap in user experience EIP-7702 introduces innovative features such as "permission downgrade": supporting conditional authorization (e.g., limiting ERC-20 transaction types or daily 2% balance expenditure) to realize the gas fee payment mechanism.
EIP-7002 simplifies the staking withdrawal process through smart contracts.
3. The introduction of the Rollup advanced PeerDAS protocol (EIP-7594) allows nodes to verify only part of the data to confirm the availability of L2 Blob, further reducing gas costs.
Potential impact on the value of Ether
Christine Kim, Vice President of Galaxy Research, pointed out that as the focus of Ethereum's expansion shifts towards L2, the direct impact of base layer upgrades on ETH prices may weaken: "The key to driving ETH's value in the future lies in the user experience and ecological prosperity of L2, rather than mainnet optimization."
Market Outlook
Despite the ongoing controversy surrounding the Rollup-centric scaling strategy, upgrades such as Proto-Danksharding and Pectra demonstrate the Ethereum team's execution capability. As the cornerstone of DeFi and dApps, improvements in efficiency and enhanced flexibility will undoubtedly solidify its market leadership.
