Gelonghui April 7 | As there are no signs that Trump will yield on the tariff issue, expectations for an emergency rate cut by The Federal Reserve (FED) are rising. Swap trading indicates that the likelihood of the FED cutting rates by 25 basis points next week is about 40%, well ahead of the FED's scheduled rate decision on May 7. Meanwhile, investors are selling off risk and flocking to bonds, leading to a sharp decline in yields. On Monday, the yield on the most interest-sensitive U.S. two-year Treasury notes fell by 22 basis points to 3.43%, totaling a drop of about 50 basis points since Trump announced the tariffs.
