On Sunday morning local time, the Syrian opposition announced in a televised speech that they have liberated Damascus, overthrowing Assad's regime after 24 years, and all prisoners have been released. Two senior officials said that Assad had suppressed various forms of dissent and imprisoned thousands of people during his reign.

On June 5th, Eugene Kaspersky, CEO of network security solution Kaspersky, tweeted that a new type of network attack targeting iOS was discovered, called Triangulation. The attack starts with an iMessage with a malicious attachment, exploiting several vulnerabilities in iOS to install spyware without user action. Triangulation transmits private information to a remote server: microphone recordings, instant messenger photos, geolocation and some other activity data. Kaspersky said that Triangulation does not overlap with known Pegasus, Predator, or Reign, and that disabling iMessage prevents iOS devices from Triangulation attacks.

Golden Finance reported that Turkish media reported on Sunday that Recep Tayyip Erdogan (Recep Tayyip Erdogan) won Turkey's 2023 presidential election, after experiencing the most intense campaign in his career, extended his reign into his third decade in office. The tally by state news agency Anadolu showed Erdogan ahead of opposition candidate Kemal Kildaroglu 52.11 percent to 47.89 percent, with 98.52 percent of the vote counted.
