International Energy Agency Chief: Strait of Hormuz Disruption Already Impacting Economy and Consumers

Gate News Report, March 16 — International Energy Agency Director Fatih Birol stated that disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz (a critical global oil transportation route) have impacted the economy and consumers. Birol said that the IEA’s swift actions have had a calming effect on the market. He noted that despite large reserve releases, there are still plenty of stocks available to do more if needed. Birol emphasized that if the conflict continues for a longer period, preparations must be made.
