Ministry of Commerce Responds to US Section 301 Investigation Against China and 60 Other Economies: Formal Representations Lodged with US Side

Gate News Report, March 16 — The Ministry of Commerce spokesperson responded to questions from reporters regarding the U.S. Trade Representative’s Office’s announcement of a Section 301 investigation into 60 economies, including China, on the grounds of “not prohibiting the import of forced labor products.” The Ministry of Commerce stated that the U.S. previously fabricated facts and imposed a series of trade restrictions against China under the pretext of “forced labor.” China has expressed its serious position multiple times. Currently, China and the U.S. are holding a new round of economic and trade consultations in Paris, France, and China has lodged a protest with the U.S. side. The Ministry of Commerce urges the U.S. to immediately correct its wrongful actions, work with China in a reciprocal manner, adhere to the principles of mutual respect and equal consultation, and seek solutions through dialogue and negotiation. China will closely monitor the progress of the U.S. investigation and reserves the right to take all necessary measures to firmly defend its legitimate rights and interests.
