ISO-20022 is a financial messaging standard established by the International Organization for Standardization. It enables electronic payment or transaction data exchange between banks and payment systems. By standardizing message formats, data fields, and structures, it enhances interoperability, security, and transparency for cross-border payments, securities trading, clearing, and reporting.
More banks and financial institutions are transitioning from legacy messaging systems to ISO-20022, which supports richer and more structured data content.
As of 2025, Solana does not natively support ISO-20022. Solana’s architecture is not based on this messaging standard. However, third-party providers and middleware are actively enabling Solana transactions and select financial applications to be converted into ISO-20022 format to integrate with legacy financial systems. The standard itself continues to evolve. Some regulatory authorities have announced support for tokenization tools and blockchain wallet identifiers within messaging platforms.
