Foreign investors are piling into Japanese government bonds at a record pace:
Open interest in Japan's 20Y government bond futures surged to a record 44,093 contracts last week.
By comparison, in July 2025, open interest was nonexistent when the Japan Exchange Group tried to revive liquidity after 3 years without a single trade.
This comes as cumulative net purchases by foreign investors rose to 3,615 contracts in the first week of February, 22 times above domestic participation.
At the same time, overseas investors bought ~14,000 contracts of 10Y JGB futures in the first 2 weeks of the month,

The $4.5B 2026 Bitcoin ETF bleed is risk-budget rebalancing (to gold, bonds, cash) while the $80.8B core becomes the new generational floor.
The leverage hooligans and retail weak hands rotated out, and the diamond-hand institutions will rotate in via regulated vehicles after CLARITY Act.
This is the textbook smart money winter before institutional spring.

THE BIGGEST THREAT TO GLOBAL PAYMENT COMPANIES IS AI USING STABLECOINS.
Visa is down 4.6%.
Mastercard is down 5.7%.
American Express is down 7.2%.
Capital One is down 8.8%.
Markets are beginning to price a structural shift. And the concern is simple.
AI systems do not choose payment methods based on brand or existing infrastructure. They automatically select the fastest and cheapest way to settle transactions.
Today, card payments typically cost merchants between 2% and 3.5% per transaction. Cross border payments often exceed 4% once currency spreads and intermediaries are included.

BREAKING: 🇮🇳 AI HAS WIPED OUT $50 BILLION from Indian IT companies so far in 2026.
Nifty IT is down 20.77% YTD.
TCS is down 19.95%.
Infosys is down 21%.
Wipro is down 24%.
HCL Tech is down 17%.
Markets appear to be pricing growing risks to India’s decades long IT outsourcing model.
For nearly 30 years, global corporations relied on Indian firms for enterprise support, maintenance, and back office technology services built around scaling skilled labor.
Agentic AI is beginning to change that cost structure. Companies deploying advanced AI internally are increasingly able to complete work that

While everyone is focused on Bitcoin dropping to $63K something happened last week that nobody talked about
The Lightning Network crossed $1 billion in monthly transaction volume for the first time ever
$1.17 billion across 5.2 million transactions in November
And the average transaction size nearly doubled year over year from $118 to $223 which means this isn't just micropayment experimentation anymore
Businesses are using it
Exchanges are moving real money through it
Bitcoin's price is down 50% from its high and its actual usage as a payment network just hit an all time record

Traders are increasingly hedging against credit risk in the software sector:
Investors bought ~400,000 put options, equivalent to 40 million shares, on the Invesco Senior Loan ETF, $BKLN, over the last 3 weeks.
This fund tracks the 100 largest institutional leveraged loans, made primarily to below-investment-grade corporations, and has ~18% exposure to the software sector and a market value of ~$6.8 billion.
As a result, open interest in $BKLN puts rose to the highest since 2023.
On Monday alone, an investor bought 30,000 April $20 put contracts in $BKLN.

The AI boom is fueling the South Korean economy:
South Korea exports surged +47% YoY in the first 20 days of February, the strongest reading in at least 2 years.
This follows a +34% gain in January, marking the 2nd consecutive monthly acceleration in growth.
These figures also came despite fewer working days due to the 3-day Lunar New Year holiday falling within the reporting period.
The surge was driven by semiconductor exports that soared +134% YoY, fueled by AI and data center investment demand.
Furthermore, shipments of computer peripherals and petrochemical products jumped +129% and +11%.
