China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing Releases March Logistics Business Climate Index

**Data shows that in March, logistics activity became more active, supply chain coordination across upstream and downstream sectors improved, investments in the logistics field increased, and market expectations turned positive.

The March China Logistics Industry Business Climate Index was 50.2%, up 2.7 percentage points from the previous month. The sub-indices showed a comprehensive upward trend, with significant increases in total business volume, new orders, inventory turnover, capital turnover rate, equipment utilization rate, employment, and business activity expectations.

The total business volume index was 50.2%, an increase of 2.7 percentage points month-on-month. Major industry total business volume indices all showed month-on-month growth:

  • Railway transportation industry total business volume index was 54.4%, up 0.3 percentage points;
  • Air logistics, postal and courier, and road transportation industries saw increases of 3.7, 2.5, and 3.1 percentage points, respectively.

Overall, the recovery of the industrial chain in the first quarter was positive, providing strong support for the rebound in logistics demand.

Enterprise employment demand increased, with the employment personnel index at 49.7%, up 1.4 percentage points month-on-month, with the employment indices in central and western regions exceeding 50%, indicating expansion.

**Liu Yuhang, Director of China Logistics Information Center: In March this year, the logistics business climate index returned to the expansion zone, with key indicators showing clear improvement. Logistics companies strengthened their digitalization and integrated supply chain service capabilities, driving a healthy and orderly growth in the logistics industry in the first quarter.

Investments in the logistics field steadily increased, with the fixed asset investment completion index at 51.4%, up 0.8 percentage points month-on-month. The enterprise business activity expectation index was 54.2%, an increase of 3.2 percentage points, reflecting optimistic outlooks for future development.
