On April 7th at 21:32, at the Hainan Commercial Space Launch Site, the Long March 8 launch vehicle successfully carried out a “one rocket, eighteen stars” mission, sending the seventh batch of network satellites for the Qianfan constellation into the designated orbit. The launch was a complete success. The Qianfan constellation is China’s independently controlled low Earth orbit satellite internet system, primarily targeting the “Belt and Road” initiative and the outbound needs of Chinese-funded enterprises, providing high-speed, real-time, secure, and reliable integrated solutions and services across air, space, sea, and ground. The Long March 8 rocket executing this mission is part of the Long March 8 series, forming a payload capacity echelon of 5 tons and 7 tons in sun-synchronous orbit alongside the Long March 8A rocket, significantly enhancing China’s capability to launch networks of medium and low Earth orbit satellites. This year, the Long March 8 will adopt a high-density launch mode, continuously promoting the construction of China’s low Earth orbit satellite internet constellation and the high-quality development of commercial space activities. In this mission, the meteorological system at the Hainan Commercial Space Launch Site independently undertook the task of weather support for the mission for the first time. The verification through this launch further enhances the comprehensive service and support capabilities of Hainan Commercial Launch. (CCTV News)
