Reporters have learned that Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced on March 12 local time that Canada would allocate an additional 32 billion Canadian dollars for defense and infrastructure construction in the northern regions. The funds will be used for projects including building military hubs and roads, as well as improving northern airports. This includes four military bases located in Yellowknife, Inuvik, Iqaluit, and Goose Bay in Newfoundland. Infrastructure upgrades and renovations at these four northern military bases are crucial for Canada to deploy its new F-35 stealth fighters. Carney said that two operational support centers will also be added in the Nunavut region to store military equipment and ammunition and deploy troops. These military bases will enable the Canadian military to quickly deploy across all areas of the north and support year-round, uninterrupted response operations. (CCTV News)
