Yangtze Evening News, February 24th (Reporter Fan Xiaolin) — Today marks the first trading day of the Year of the Horse. The Shanghai Composite Index opened up 1.15%, the Shenzhen Component Index up 1.52%, and the ChiNext Index up 1.70%. Gold, oil and gas, and computing power sectors led the gains.
After the opening, the precious metals sector surged rapidly. Xiaocheng Technology rose over 13%, Hunan Silver approached the daily limit, Sichuan Gold, Hunan Gold, Shenda Resources, Industrial Silver & Tin, Zhijin Gold, and Chifeng Gold also increased. On the news front, spot gold touched $5,200 per ounce for the first time since January 30, up nearly 2% intraday. Additionally, the main contract of Shanghai Futures Exchange silver briefly rose 13%, reaching 22,366 yuan per kilogram.
