Binhai Holiday Hotel Renovation: Yantai Will Welcome Its First Intercontinental Hotel

Qilu Evening Post · Qilu Yidian Li Nan Nan

The original Yantai Binhai Holiday Hotel, which carries the “city memory,” has been silent for ten years and has announced new updates after its restart! On February 5th, Evi Hotel Management Co., Ltd. held a brand signing ceremony with InterContinental Hotels Group. This partnership will introduce Yantai’s first luxury five-star hotel named “InterContinental,” filling the gap in the regional high-end coastal resort market and injecting new vitality into Yantai’s cultural and tourism industry for high-quality development.

At the signing ceremony, Daniel Aylmer, CEO of InterContinental Hotels Group Greater China, stated in his speech that InterContinental Hotels, as a global luxury hotel brand, currently operates over 237 hotels in more than 100 countries and regions worldwide. This is the first time the brand has been introduced to Yantai, recognizing the city’s economic strength and cultural tourism appeal. Yantai InterContinental Hotel is located in the heart of Yantai, adjacent to the First Seawater Bathing Beach. Through comprehensive renovation and upgrades, it will become a benchmark and new city landmark leading Yantai’s luxury hotel market. InterContinental Group has been deeply rooted in the Chinese market for half a century, always adhering to the philosophy of “In China, For China,” and looks forward to empowering the project with global standards to achieve win-win results.

Evi Group Chairman Yu Fanyi said that since its establishment in 2001, Evi Group has been focused on energy, education, and finance. The cooperation with InterContinental Hotels Group is a key step in the group’s layout of the cultural tourism industry. He noted that InterContinental’s brand influence, global membership ecosystem, and professional management capabilities are highly compatible with Evi’s local resources and execution strength.

This collaboration achieves a deep integration of local development and global resources, filling the market gap for top international coastal resort hotels on the Jiaodong Peninsula. The future Yantai InterContinental Hotel will be crafted with the “Centennial Project” standard, strictly following ultra-five-star standards and green building requirements, creating a comprehensive cultural tourism complex that combines luxury accommodation, high-end conventions, coastal vacations, and cultural experiences.

It is reported that the project adopts the core design concept of reimagining the modern “Pavilion,” aiming to echo the fairy pavilion culture of Penglai Pavilion in Yantai. The design incorporates elements of ancient pavilions, sails, and waves, with curved roofs depicting the artistic conception of “flying pavilions and flowing clouds,” creating a “city eye” over the sea. In terms of facilities, the project will feature over 300 panoramic rooms with sea views, a 1,600㎡ pillarless banquet hall, a 550㎡ infinity pool, and a children’s club, extending the “sails and waves” architectural aesthetics into indoor experiences. Additionally, the project aims to revitalize buildings carrying the era’s memories, integrating intelligent energy-saving systems, practicing green and low-carbon concepts, and striving to become a model of green transformation in Yantai’s hotel industry.

From a city development perspective, the construction of Yantai InterContinental Hotel ends the ten-year idle period of the original Binhai Holiday Hotel, re-illuminating the coastal landmark and becoming a typical case of urban renewal and industrial upgrading in Yantai. As one of the few top international coastal resorts on the Jiaodong Peninsula, this project will significantly enhance the competitiveness and service quality of the high-end hotel cluster in Zhifu District. Socially, the project is expected to directly create over 500 high-quality jobs in hotel management, catering, engineering maintenance, and other fields. After operation, it will generate stable tax revenue for Zhifu District annually and attract global tourists, boosting surrounding industries such as dining, shopping, and transportation, forming a radiating effect on the cultural tourism economy.

“We will take this signing as a new opportunity to focus on making Yantai InterContinental Hotel a city landmark, a Shandong cultural tourism landmark, and even an InterContinental flagship store, setting an industry benchmark for northern coastal vacations,” said Yu Zhenyang, General Manager of Yantai Evi Hotel Management Co., Ltd. Since the project’s initiation, with support from relevant government departments and local streets, key procedures such as planning, approval, and construction have been efficiently completed, and construction is now underway. On January 30th, the main building of the hotel’s podium was topped out, and the construction process is progressing in an orderly manner. The project is expected to be fully completed by March 2027 and officially open in May.

By then, this “sailing shadow” of the InterContinental Hotel will not only stand as a new landmark on Yantai’s coast but also serve as an open bridge connecting the world and Yantai. It will shoulder multiple missions of revitalizing city memory, activating coastal resources, and leading industrial upgrades, becoming a “shining business card” for Yantai’s modernization as an international coastal city.
