Solana Developers Outline Plan to Protect Network From Quantum Threats

SOL-4.4%

Gate News message, April 28 — Solana Foundation’s core development teams, Anza and Jump Crypto’s Firedancer, have agreed on a post-quantum cryptography solution using the Falcon digital signature scheme, according to CoinDesk. The teams have already begun building an early version of the implementation.

The foundation noted that quantum threats remain years away from becoming a practical reality. Solana has outlined a phased roadmap: continue researching Falcon and alternative approaches, introduce post-quantum solutions for new wallets where necessary, and eventually migrate existing wallets. The migration plan has been thoroughly researched and is ready for deployment.

Within the Solana ecosystem, Blueshift’s “Winternitz Vault” has been running as a post-quantum resistant tool on Solana for over two years and was recently cited by Google Quantum AI.
