WisdomTree Wins SEC Nod for All‑Day $1 Trading on Tokenized Treasury Fund - Crypto Economy

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued an unprecedented exemptive order for the WisdomTree Treasury Money Market Digital Fund (WTGXX), allowing the fund to operate with intraday liquidity at a fixed price of $1. The measure is a direct break from the traditional valuation rules governing most mutual funds under the Investment Company Act.

The order exempts the WisdomTree fund from Section 22(d) of that Act and from Rule 22c-1, allowing registered broker-dealers to buy and sell shares on a principal basis at a fixed dollar throughout the trading day, regardless of the closing net asset value. Settlement is carried out on blockchain infrastructure, which promises to shorten operational cycles and improve efficiency.


According to statements by WisdomTree, this is the first time the SEC has granted this type of regulatory relief to a tokenized mutual fund. Unlike stablecoins, the WTGXX remains subject to securities regulation, custody standards and disclosure requirements, backed by U.S. Treasury bonds within a registered fund structure.

This decision opens the door for other regulated digital products to integrate more deeply into traditional financial architecture in the future, and could be replicated across other liquidity management vehicles and tokenized securities in the U.S. market.
