I realize that what I fear most is not the lack of profit, but the floating loss on my account that keeps hanging around... Clearly I haven't sold, but my mind automatically treats it as "already lost," and before bed I keep thinking about whether I should cut my losses or if I shouldn't have clicked that button in the first place. Conversely, unrealized gains are very laissez-faire; if it goes up, I just think "oh, that's okay," glance at it a couple more times at most, and it doesn't affect my sleep at all, which is quite double standard.
Recently, a bunch of people have been interpreting ETF capital flows, U.S. stock risk appetite, and crypto market rises and falls as if they were formulas, but looking at the volatility I just feel: the more "everyone is looking for reasons" this is, the easier emotions are to amplify, and losing a little feels like the sky is falling.
My current makeshift method is: don't look at floating losses before sleep, just write down the stop-loss/reduction conditions casually, so my brain doesn't work overtime in the middle of the night. For now, that's it. I'm going to finish the votes I need to remind myself of tonight and the reconciliation for tomorrow.
