US stock retail investors rush into space-themed ETFs, with SpaceX leading the space investment boom and recreating the early AI craze
BlockBeats News, May 30 — As SpaceX prepares for its upcoming IPO, retail investors in the US stock market are flooding into space-themed ETFs, with Tema ETFs' NASA fund (Space Innovators ETF) emerging as the biggest winner. The fund was launched on March 30, and in just 37 trading days, its assets surpassed $1 billion, soaring to over $2.6 billion by the end of this week. The fund directly holds private shares of SpaceX, currently accounting for about 7.5% of the fund’s shares, providing retail investors with a convenient way to gain exposure to SpaceX before the IPO. Maurits Pot, founder of Tema ETFs, stated that investing in space must include SpaceX, and after the IPO, the fund will not sell its shares but will revalue its holdings at market prices.
Market experts believe that the space investment boom may replicate the early AI investment wave, but with extremely high volatility. The explosion of Blue Origin’s rocket this week also highlights the uncertainties in the early stages of the industry, and investors should expect some companies to surge while remaining cautious of potential failures.
