What is the OBOL token?

The OBOL token is the native token launched by Obol Collective, aimed at promoting the development of a decentralized operator ecosystem within Web3 infrastructure. In the decentralized validator (Distributed Validator, DV) network built by Obol, the OBOL token is the core asset connecting operators, protocols, and users.
Obol has built the world’s largest decentralized operator ecosystem, supporting over 600 DV nodes and protecting nearly $1 billion in Ethereum staked assets. Now, the launch of the OBOL token marks a new phase of community governance and incentives for this ecosystem.
The use of OBOL token
The OBOL token has the following main uses:
- Governance: OBOL token holders can delegate their tokens to representatives (DeleGate) and participate in the Obol “Token House” governance system, voting on ecosystem direction, upgrade proposals, and fund allocation.
- Retroactive Funding (RAF) mechanism: Through governance processes, it provides retroactive funding for public goods projects that contribute to Ethereum. The first round of RAF will launch in February, focusing on supporting Ethereum’s decentralized infrastructure development.
- DeFi Integration: The OBOL token will be integrated into multiple DeFi protocols and liquidity pools, enhancing liquidity and use cases.
- Future feature expansion: Community governance can further determine the usage of the OBOL token, such as for staking, restaking, and more functionalities.
