The UK regulatory authority requires social media platforms to strengthen user age verification.

On the 12th, two UK regulatory agencies sent letters to several major social media platforms, demanding that these companies take more measures to verify users’ ages to prevent minors from accessing services unsuitable for their age. The UK Communications Regulator and the UK Information Commissioner’s Office said that social media recommendation algorithms may push harmful or addictive content to children, raising increasing concerns.
